Picture: a suspension of liposomes, stained with the fluorochrome acridine orange.
A red color represents entrapped fluorochrome (high concentration).
Liposomal membranes, consisting of concentric phospholipid bilayers
do also contain the fluorochrome, but in a lower concentration (green color)
